Thunder and Lightning Safety Policy

Teach this safety slogan:

“If you can see it, flee it; If you can hear it, clear it.”

If bad weather occurs during a practice or a game while at an outdoor facility, Please follow these instructions:

1. If you hear thunder or see lightning, everyone should take shelter in cars with windows up only.  (Pavilions, overhangs, dugouts or sheds are not safe havens)
2. Wait a minimum of 30 minutes from the last observed lightning or thunder before resuming activities. (The clock resets at every flash of lightning and/or rumble of thunder)
3. If you can, check the radar to see if it is worth waiting a storm out.  Use your discretion when and if you should cancel the rest of practice.
