February 2008
A Message on HYSA Baseball
Dave Wall, President HYSA Baseball

Baseball registration was held from January 29th – 31st and we had over 100 players sign up. If you missed registration, it’s not too late! You can print out the Registration and Medical forms from our website, www.harwintonsports.org, and bring them to one of the Skills Evaluation sessions being held at The Hit Club in Thomaston on February 9th or 16th from 6:30-9:30. The Hit Club is located on the 4th floor of the Seth Thomas building, 135 South Main Street. All players aged 7 and up that did not play in the Major League last year, must attend an evaluation session or they will not be permitted to advance from the league in which they participated during the 2007 season. All players must wear an athletic supporter and cup and bring their glove.

There will be a baseball sub-committee meeting at 7:30pm on February 12th at the Senior Center. Everyone that is interested in coaching is strongly encouraged to attend.

Spring is rapidly approaching and baseball season will be here before we know it. I look forward to seeing you all at the evaluation sessions and sub-committee meeting. 2008 is going to be a great year for HYSA Baseball!

An Invitation to Dine - HYSA's Annual Pasta Dinner
DJ Doyle

HYSA members and their families,

Please consider attending the pasta dinner Saturday night, May 17, 2008. This same crew has been together now for six years. The sauce, meatballs and sausage are made from scratch. You won't find any more authentic, fresher or tastier pasta this side of the Atlantic or outside of Emilia or Romagna.

If you can't stay to mingle and enjoy the company of neighbors and/or teammates, you can always take it home with you. We have take out containers for your convenience.

The pasta, salad, bread, dessert, and laughs are a bargain at twice the price. The laughs alone are everything that makes this event fun for the family. There is a tea cup auction and if you listen you will be able to hear Jerry Rinkus in the background singing "Oh Solo Mio" from the kitchen over and over and over and over and over and over and over AGAIN!

We will be seeking donations for the awesome raffle held during the dinner. Contact either Sue Kellogg at 485-0548 or Melanie Joseph at 485-8948 if you would like to donate a raffle item.

Chow and Bon Appetit!
